OUR STORY

How It All Started

We started RIVIX in 2020 during a tough year for a lot of businesses. Orders were slow, supply chains were messy, and companies needed a partner who could actually keep things moving.

We built the company around a way of working that helped teams feel supported instead of stuck waiting. Those early days shaped how we operate now and led to everything that came next.

January 2018
While finishing the computer science degree he promised his mom he would complete, Sayem starts selling hoodies, belts, gloves, anything he could get through family contacts.

He would walk into restaurants while people were eating, stop strangers on the street, even step into nail salons during appointments and make a pitch.

The money helped, but what surprised him was how much he liked making clothes more than anything he was studying (love you mom).
Sayem Khan, Founder and COO of RIVIX

"I just knew I loved clothing since I was a kid and wanted to build something that would leave behind a good legacy."

Sayem, Founder of RIVIX

June 2019
Sayem keeps working his part time job and keeps selling clothes whenever he can.

It is a strange in-between season.

He knows he can make this work, he just has no idea how to build it alone.
February 2020
Sayem takes a sales job at a small dealership downtown. On his first week he meets Joseph.

The job goes downhill fast.

Promised pay never shows up, things stop adding up, and people start leaving without saying much.

During all of it, Sayem notices how Joseph takes the job seriously even when no one else does.

It feels different from the people Sayem has tried building with before.

Sayem Khan, Founder and COO of RIVIX

"Even though we never got our pay, Joseph worked like the job mattered even when it didn’t."

Sayem, Founder of RIVIX

March 2020
One night after work, Sayem stops into a small cigar shop across the street.

He ends up talking with a stranger about work, life, and how hard it is to find people who actually follow through.

The stranger is Shannon Walsh.

As they talk, Sayem learns that Shannon has connections with companies in the trades who constantly need workwear.

Shannon, on his side, learns that Sayem has family contacts who produce apparel and knows the manufacturing side better than most.
April 2020
Shannon asks Sayem to meet again and tells him to bring Joseph. The three of them sit down for coffee and talk through what each person can do.

Shannon mentions he has a niece who has been in the industry for over a decade and could help.

It’s just three people connecting dots, but the mix starts to make sense and the conversation doesn’t end there.

“If we’re going to do this, we need to do it properly."

Joseph, Co-founder of RIVIX

November 2020
RIVIX launches
The meetings become more consistent and the direction gets clearer.

What started as a few casual talks in the middle of a messy year turns into the plan for a real company.

They go back and forth on names for weeks until one finally feels right...

The name "RIVIX" is born.

NOUN

An easy way to get apparel made.

Right after that, Shannon reaches out to a contact who has been struggling to get workwear delivered on time.

The three of them take on the order.
Shannon Walsh, CEO and Co-Founder of RIVIX

“Yeah… no. We’re not calling the company that. Let’s come up with a name that actually sounds like a brand.”

Shannon, Co-founder of RIVIX

2021
Orders were small at first.

It mostly came from Canadian companies trying to keep things moving in a year where supply chains were still a complete mess.

It wasn’t a big year, but it was the one that kept people coming back.

2022
Momentum started to pick up. The word slowly spread through Vancouver and the surrounding regions.

Most programs were in the 1,000 to 3,000 range and kept us busy enough to see what was working and what wasn’t.

Every delivery made the next referral a little easier.
2023
The orders were bigger and started coming in across Canada and the United States.

Most projects were in the 3,000 to 6,000 piece range and the variety picked up fast.

Whatever people needed to keep their teams stocked, we took care of it.

It was the first time we could look at the calendar and see that the work was starting to pay off.

2024
Larger companies started reaching out and the work moved into new sectors we had never touched before.

Projects in the 5,000 to 10,000 range started to become normal, with a few that went well beyond that on the biggest programs.

It was the year we learned how to handle the expectations without losing the way we worked in the beginning.
2025
We expanded into full apparel programs across eight industries and started handling work that reached past Canada and the United States.

These programs were larger than anything we had taken on before and came in from places we never expected.
